A Reputation Built Over 50 Years of Trading Excellence
Wogen celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022 having started its journey in 1972. Founded by Colin Williams of Rudolf Wolff Holdings Ltd and Bernard Buckman, Vice-President of the Sino British Trade Council (SBTC), Wogen was formed to specialise in trading off-exchange metals and minerals with China.
The company name derives from “Wu Jin” (五金) meaning the 5 primary metals at the core of ancient Chinese civilisation. As the company grew, so did its presence in other markets. A conduit for discovery, Wogen’s services and products expanded.
Since the early 1970’s Wogen has conducted its business through Wogen Resources Ltd (based in London) and Wogen Pacific Ltd (based in Hong Kong). In 2005, Wogen was listed on the AIM markets in London, however since 2009 the company has been wholly owned by its employees. Over the years we have set up the following subsidiaries and offices:

The Wogen Anniversary Trust
Founded in 1982, the Wogen Anniversary Trust coordinates and focuses Wogen’s philanthropic and charitable giving ethos. Funded out of our annual profits, the Wogen Anniversary Trust has over many years supported a wide variety of good causes with which the company is associated in the UK and around the world and has donated $1.4m since 2010.
The trust’s mission is a long-term philanthropic strategy in striving to make the world a better place coupled with more immediate charitable donations for good causes. Supporting fund raising initiatives by Wogen’s staff and customers, the trustees have focused on improving economic opportunity, education, health, social factors and the environment.
